About Kevin S SlevinKevin Slevin, the founder of Slevin Associates, has been providing taxation consultancy advice since 1980 following a career specialising in tax with chartered accountants Clarke Whitehill (now Horwath Clark Whitehill). From 1980 to 1995 he established the Parker Slevin Taxation Consultancy advising accountants on their clients' tax problems and to assist in identifying tax planning opportunities. In 1995 the Parker Slevin consultancy was taken over by The Parmentier Arthur Group PLC where Kevin was a director spearheading the group's taxation consultancy services to the accountancy world. In 2000 Kevin was invited to rejoin the accountancy profession by becoming a tax partner with the West Country firm of Francis Clark before moving to Bristol-based Solomon Hare LLP in 2002, again as a tax partner specialising in tax consultancy. Shortly after Solomon Hare LLP merged with the London-based Smith and Williamson, Kevin decided to return to running an independent taxation consultancy. Tax AuthorKevin is a frequent contributor to the weekly magazine 'Taxation' and has for a number of years been a member of its Editorial Board. Most recently, Kevin was the Editor for Tottle Publishing's guide to capital gains tax. Role Within the Tax professionIn 2005 Kevin ceased his 12 year stint a Council Member of the Chartered Institute of Taxation ('CIOT') where he was actively involved in the operations of the Institute. Throughout this period Kevin served on the Institute's Technical Committee making representations on government legislation etc and made a number of technical presentations to at Members' conferences. Kevin continues to be a member of the CIOT's Technical Committee and is one of the Institutes representative on HMRC's CGT Review Committee. |
